Reinier Moquete, Founder
Read Reinier’s Biography...
Reinier Moquete was born in New York City and spent his youth moving around the Northeast USA and Dominican Republic, attending over a dozen schools K-12 before settling back into NYC in the mid 90s. Reinier was a rebellious teenager and often found himself in trouble until a near death experience forced him to consider a different lifestyle. In 1999, realizing he needed to escape the destructive path his life was heading down, he moved to Boston at 20 years old with no family, no education, and no money. It took him 6yrs of full-time classes on nights and weekends while maintaining a 60+ hour work week to earn an A.A. and A.S. (Business & Finance, respectively) from Bunker Hill Community College as well as a B.S. in Telecommunications via Pace University’s online program, NACTEL. Today, Reinier is CEO for Advoqt Technology Group, pronounced “advocate”, a next-generation Systems Integrator and Managed Services company that provides Application Development, Cloud Migration, and Cybersecurity expertise to mid-market businesses. Advoqt recently built and is working to commercialize proprietary software that uses Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to address Information Security risks.
Reinier’s life experiences drive him to give back so he has integrated that passion into Advoqt via workforce development programs that are scalable and sustainable: Diversity IT Network and CyberWarrior Academy. Diversity IT Network helps multicultural IT professionals get into management roles. DITN hosts monthly events including networking, training around leadership and emotional intelligence, as well as career coaching. DITN is now building an online platform for peer-to-peer mentorship, career navigation, and other professional development resources. CyberWarrior Academy is a Cybersecurity boot camp for IT professionals with 2 to 5 years of industry experience. The training is delivered by Advoqt’s security experts, whom see real-world threats daily and are constantly innovating to keep up with industry trends. The program teaches pragmatic and highly in-demand skills which enable participants to get jobs as Information Security Analysts (average annual salary of over $80,000 USD versus $50,000 USD as a Help Desk Analyst). CyberWarrior Academy kicks off in Fall 2017.
Reinier is Co-Founder and Board President of Latino STEM Alliance, a 503(c)3 certified non-profit (founded in 2010) that teaches kids how to build robots and is designed to inspire underserved youth to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). After recruiting a Board of Directors and an Executive Director, the organization has scaled rapidly to over 17 locations across Boston and Lawrence and serves hundreds of kids each week. Financial supporters include Advoqt, The Boston Foundation, the National Grid Foundation, the Cummings Foundation, Raytheon, Kronos, Eastern Bank, among others.
